Welcome To Valerie's World

THE LITTLE BOY
There was once a little boy who wouldn't read a thing. He would not read an alphabet letter or a word, not a sentence or a paragraph, not a fable or a fairy tale. The little boy would not read a comic book or a magazine, not a short-story or a novel. His mother tried and tried and tried to get the little boy to read. She bought every book she could find to create an interest. She brought him adventure books, suspense books, mystery books, fantasy books, science fiction books, nature books and animal books. The more books his mother gave to him, the more he would say to her "Thanks Mom, what I always never wanted". The one thing he enjoyed was numbers. He learned to count numbers very well. He learned to count his allowance and the value of money. And count his money is what he did. He could spend hours counting his money. The more money he got, the more times he counted it. He loved the numbers. He enjoyed adding them and subtracting them. He enjoyed multiplying them and dividing them. He became really, really good with numbers. He didn't like going outside much, so he stay in his room and count numbers and money. Most of the time, he would stay in his room and try to develop new ways to arrange numbers. He was not overly active. He didn't care much for outdoor sports. He watched sports and he watched games. He watched, listened and learned. He could play most of them and chose not to get involved. He loved comedy, funny faces and funny gestures. He watched, listened and learned. He had a keen ear for music and musical instruments. He remembered every sound and every note he heard. As he grew he developed a photographic memory and a keen sense of hearing. He mimicked everything he saw, or seen, or heard. He became a very good mimick, a very good observer and a very good listener.

THE KID
He advanced in mathematics, games, sports and musical instruments, but continued not to read any books. Then one day he met a little girl. The little girl loved to read. She read everything she could all the time. She never found a book that she did not enjoy reading. He befriended the little girl and liked the girl a lot, but she only liked boys who read. He sang to her, he danced for her, he bought her ice cream, bubble gum, candy and even a flower, but never a book. She was most grateful and smiled sweetly, but she still would not spend time with the little boy. One day he decided to picked up a book give reading a try. He was determined to win the heart and admiration of the little girl. The first day the little boy read for one hour. The second day he read for two hours. Each day he read a hour longer than the last. By the end of the week, the little boy thought, "This is not that bad". He begin to read day and night and night and day. He discovered that he liked reading. He read adventures and comics, mysteries and suspense, fantasies and science fiction, travels and music. The little boy even read poetry and romance. He learned, there were many, many journeys, adventures and knowledge in the world of books. The little girl so so happy. She adored him and grew to love him dearly. They read together all the time. Then, one day the little girl moved away. The little boy was very sad. They promised to remain friends forever. They would continue to read and send letters and cards about the books they read, and they did.

THE GRADUATE
Today he is a graduated young man. His mother brought him a new book and he told her, "Thanks Mom, but now I read dictionaries". The Graduate AKA "The Ladies Man" is a very available bachelor. He works hard managing a highly popular sporting goods store. He has also put together a very talented jazz/pop band. I must say, very good for the little boy who didn't want to read. "The Ladies Man" AKA "The Brown Man" has embarked on the road to success. Although, the music business can be extremely competitive, I believe all the young mans' dreams will become a reality.

THE BROWN MAN
Today I am a young adult who has created my own band. We are known as Black Koffee, featuring the "The Brown Man". I have had some minor experiences with the electric and bass guitars, the saxophone and piano. When the opportunity arose for me to play backup drums at my church, my real inspirations were achieved as the drums won me over. Actually, I have always been a natural at music. Over the pass eight to ten years I have learned quite a bit. As different people begin to hear me play, they begin to spread the news of how good this new young undisciplined drummer was. "Hey, Hey Gotta Love That". One person in particular approached me and found out that I had no fomal training ,nor could I read music sheets. He was very much impressed with my raw talent and abilities. He took on the responsiblity of training me further to develop my drumming skills. It did not take long for him to introduce me to a very well-known jazz group, known as "Lite Jazz". I have had the opportunity to travel and experience the joys of performing to various audiences, sizes ranging from 12-800 in attendance. In the summer of 98, my first tour with my church begain in British Columbia and ended in Quebec. By the summer of 99, I was on my second tour with the church to New York City, in the United States of America. I can't begin to tell you what a thrill the "Big Apple" was, and to be a part of it. There are a couple of really interesting sites listed below for all of you book lovers or jazz lovers out there seeking good reading, knowledge or music. I will continue to expand my musical career. There is a great deal for me to learn and I am looking forward to the challenges.
